What can you say about this years American GP? It was won by Michael Schumacher, his first win this year. Of course a good result. But was he happy? No he wasn't. Why? Because of the trouble that Michelan had. They didn't had the good tyres with them this year, causing an accident with Ralph Schumacher. This ended up in the retirement of all the Michelan teams. So... only six cars started and finished the race!! ... A huge disaster for the F1 sport! ... But don't blame it on the Bridgetone teams, don't blame it on Ferrari. They just did their job and the right thing! ... Well done guys, a good 1 - 2 result. I hope you can win more races... and next time with all the competitors in action!
New FXX to turn client-collectors into genuine Ferrari Test Drivers
Ferrari has developed a truly innovative technical collaboration programme around the FXX prototype aimed at its most dedicated and passionate Clients. The FXX is the most advanced GT ever created at Maranello and its mission is to involve our most valued Clients as genuine Prancing Horse Test Drivers in their own right. The wealth of data and experience gathered in the course of this very special programme will be exceptionally important. In fact, the feedback from these highly skilled, non-professional Client Test Drivers will be compared and supplemented with suggestions from Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello and Ferrari’s professional in-house Test Drivers.
The FXX is powered by an imposing 6,262 cc V12 engine that can punch out over 800 hp at 8,500 rpm. Its gearbox is the result of the transfer of F1 strategies, delivering gear change times of under 100 ms. This is almost as fast as the F1 single-seaters, themselves the absolute pinnacle of current technological achievement. The FXX’s aerodynamic design is particularly innovative too as it has resulted in a shape that produces 40% higher downforce than ever achieved before. It is also possible to adjust the FXX’s mobile spoiler configuration to suit the specific circuit. Ferrari’s partnership with Bridgestone has resulted in the development of a specific 19” slick tyre for this particular model. Likewise Brembo has created a special brake cooling and pad system for the FXX’s extra large Composite Ceramic Material disc brakes.
Schumacher had a great qualification and started the race as second, but at the start he lost a lot of places. The first stint he drove as sixth. But for Rubens it all started even worse. In the qually something broke in the gearbox and he started from the pitlane. But in the end? Well, let's start that both Renaults didn't finish. That Montoya got a black flag, and did not finish. That Trulli didn't finish. ... Okay, where does that leave the Ferraris? A victory? No, almost... Kimi Raikkonen took the victory but only with a small second lead. Michael Schumacher was second and Rubens was the man of the race... started as last and finished third!! A great race, with a lot of excitement. Let's hope we'll see more of these!
A few weeks ago I went to the San Marino GP (together with four F-chat buddies). During that trip we also went (of course) to Maranello to take loads of pics. At the Fiorano track we saw something special...a modified Enzo. So...taking pic after pic. And when we got back...we posted them at FerrariChat.com. But what a suprise...now those pictures appear also on another site...ItaliaSpeed.com (news 07.06.2005). Nice to see my (and Roel's) pictures published!!
